SUMMARY:Pedro Abrunhosa at Rockhal
DESCRIPTION:Pedro Abrunhosa came to pop through jazz: he taught it in Porto and co-founded the city’s jazz school\, then built his first pop band largely from his former students. Maceo Parker played sax on the debut\, Viagens\, in 1994. Pedro Abrunhosa plays the Rockhal Club on Friday 19 February 2027. Doors at 19:30\, on stage at 20:30. Abrunhosa has been one of the defining voices in Portuguese music since the early 1990s\, working somewhere between rock\, soul and spoken delivery\, and always in Portuguese. Luxembourg has one of the largest Portuguese communities in Europe\, which makes this less of a niche booking than it looks. Standing\, in the Club. Promoted by DYAM\, so the ticket link goes through their listing. Who is Pedro Abrunhosa? Pedro Abrunhosa is a Portuguese singer\, songwriter\, pianist and composer\, born in Porto on 20 December 1960. He came to pop through the classical door: he studied composition and double bass in Porto\, then spent the 1980s playing and teaching jazz\, and co-founded the city’s jazz school. In 1994 he released his first pop album\, Viagens\, with his band Bandemónio\, a group made up largely of his former students. Saxophonist Maceo Parker\, known for his years with James Brown\, played on it. The record went triple platinum in Portugal and Billboard called him “the fastest-selling artist in Portuguese record-industry history”. Between October 1994 and January 1995 he played more than 120 concerts. Fans also know him by one famous detail: he always wears sunglasses in public. Over the years he has sung with Carla Bruni\, Lucinda Williams and Ana Moura\, and today he tours with his band Comité Caviar. His records Viagens (1994): the debut with Bandemónio\, named the best Portuguese album of the 1990s by the music magazine Blitz in 2009. Tempo (1996): recorded in Porto\, Lisbon\, Memphis and Minneapolis\, and double platinum in Portugal. Silêncio (1999). Momento (2002): double platinum\, with a short film for the title song directed by Manoel de Oliveira. Luz (2007)\, Longe (2010) and Contramão (2013). Espiritual (2018): built around six duets with women singers\, among them Lila Downs and Carla Bruni. He described it to Euronews as “a collection of songs about love to fight the hate”. Inverbo (2026): his new studio album\, eleven tracks\, led by the single “Não Te Ausentes de Mim”. Songs to know before the night: “Não Posso Mais”\, “Socorro”\, “Vem Ter Comigo aos Aliados”\, “Tempestade”\, “Dor Sem Álibi” and “Não Te Ausentes de Mim”. Awards Named best act of 1994 by Blitz\, Público and Diário de Notícias. Three Globos de Ouro\, Portugal’s Golden Globes\, one of them for “Se Eu Fosse Um Dia O Teu Olhar”. Four Blitz Awards\, including Record of the Year and Artist of the Year. The Inverbo tour The tour shares its name with the new album and runs across Europe from late 2026 into early 2027\, with stops that include London and the Trianon in Paris. Rockhal presents it as his return to international stages: a show sung in Portuguese\, built on storytelling\, that mixes the new songs with the classics of his career.
