RestoDays in Belval

Twice a year, RestoDays puts a fixed price on three courses in restaurants across Luxembourg. The 43rd edition runs from Friday 9 to Sunday 25 October, and three Belval kitchens have signed up: a Japanese izakaya by the Porte de France, a food and wine bar on the boulevard du Jazz and a steakhouse on the avenue du Rock’n’Roll. They are a few minutes’ walk apart, so the only hard part is choosing.

Nonbe. The restaurant says its name is Japanese for a bon vivant, and the menu takes that seriously. Mackerel sashimi, takoyaki or fried tofu in dashi to start. Then teriyaki chicken or salmon, diced beef fillet with onion and saké, or miso aubergine with shimeji mushrooms, each served with rice and miso soup. A yuzu cheesecake to finish. At dinner, edamame and an amuse-bouche arrive before the starter. 41 € at lunch, 48 € at dinner, Tuesday to Saturday. A few dishes cost extra: grilled eel (+8 €), bluefin tuna and ikura chirashi (+10 €), prawn and vegetable tendon (+10 €), and a plate of eight gyoza to share, chicken and shiso with pork and cabbage (+24 €). Nonbe also takes RestoDays bookings on its own site at nonbe.lu/reservation: choose the “Izakaya” experience and write “Resto Days” in the comment. Places are limited, so book ahead.

Nyx Food & Wine. Lunch and dinner are two different menus here, with three choices at every course. At lunch: halal beef carpaccio, salmon ceviche or burrata, then tuna tataki, a beef burger or tagliatelle bolognese, and pineapple carpaccio, panna cotta or a Sicilian cannolo. In the evening: vegetable flan, fried seafood or a Parisian-style beef tartare, then pork cheek, croaker en papillote or a carbonara, and tiramisu, hazelnut semifreddo or a chocolate brownie. 36 € at lunch, 43 € at dinner.

Terra Steakhouse. The shortest menu of the three, and the most decisive. Two Angus beef tacos at lunch, or two wagyu brisket bao buns at dinner. Then a 250 g Argentinian ribeye with homemade fries and chimichurri, or a grilled tuna steak with potato purée. A dame blanche to finish. 36 € at lunch, 43 € at dinner. RestoDays tables at Terra run Sunday to Thursday, not on Friday or Saturday.

Booking is online only, through restodays.lu or the links below. The organisers treat every reservation as binding, so if plans change, cancel ahead. Nonbe’s booking page also shows 15 € per guest when you reserve.
