If you are under 26 in Belval, the discount you are looking for is probably not a student discount.
That is the part I did not expect when I started asking. A student card gets you a cheaper haircut and cheaper Apple hardware. The offer at the coffee house, the one at the optician, the cinema ticket and the phone contract all key off your age instead, and most of them run off a card you can hold whether you study or not.
So this page has both, place by place, grouped by the kind of place. Every offer on it came from asking: a price board in a window, a reply from a manager, a menu card on a counter, or the business listing it themselves. Where an offer has a figure, the figure is on it. Where it does not, I have not invented one.
Three cards, and they are not the same
A student card. Your university or school card. Two salons and the Apple reseller ask to see this one.
A Carte Jeunes. The European Youth Card, for anyone aged 12 to 30 living in Luxembourg or within 30 km of it. It costs 10 euros a year from Les Auberges de Jeunesse, and it is the card behind most of what is on this page.
A Carte Jeunes Esch. The version co-branded with Esch-sur-Alzette. Some Belval businesses treat the two differently, and at least one honours the Esch card at a better rate than the national one, so it is worth asking which applies rather than assuming any youth card is as good as another.
If you are 18 or over and none of that applies, an identity card is sometimes enough on its own. The under 26 phone and bank offers at the POST counter ask for proof of age and address, and nothing else.
