Getting Around

CFL – Centre de vente Belval-Université

The staffed CFL counter at Belval-Université. Travel inside Luxembourg is free, so this is where you come for cross-border tickets, reservations and passes.

The CFL ticket office at Belval-Université station is easy to walk past for years without needing, and then suddenly necessary. Public transport inside Luxembourg is free, so nobody buys a ticket to get to Luxembourg City or Esch. The counter exists for everything else.

It is an international sales point: cross-border journeys into France, Belgium and Germany, seat reservations, night trains, Interrail and rail passes, and the advice that goes with them. If you are going to Paris, Trier or Brussels, this is the nearest counter with a person behind it.

It opens Monday to Friday, 06:15 to 19:45, and closes on Luxembourg public holidays. Weekends it is shut, which is worth knowing before a Saturday morning trip.

The station around it runs longer. The waiting room is open every day from 06:00 to 21:00, there are lifts, escalators and tactile paving throughout, and Snack O Quai is on the platform level. The covered car park holds 1,505 paid spaces, with 33 for reduced mobility, 66 Chargy charging bays and 40 bike spaces plus two bike boxes. Capacity is temporarily reduced by construction works until the end of the year.

Local tip: The counter shuts at 19:45 but the waiting room stays open until 21:00, so a late connection still has somewhere warm to wait. And nothing inside Luxembourg needs a ticket at all.

Thank you. That is exactly how this stays right: I will check it and update the page.

That did not send. Try again in a moment, or use the contact page.

Hours, an address, a closure: if this page is out of date, tell me and I will go and check. It goes to me, not onto the site.
