Lycée Bel-Val

Belval's secondary school, built for 1,500 students in Belval Park, with a broad offer from classical secondary to vehicle mechanics, and its own railway station.

Belval’s secondary school, in Belval Park a short walk from the residential quarter to the south. Designed by the Luxembourg architect Jim Clemes, and built for up to 1,500 students.

The offer is deliberately broad. Classical secondary and general education, the preparatory stream, the general technical section, the lower cycle for students heading towards medicine or teaching, and training as a technician, a mechanic, a vehicle mechanic or a painter and decorator. It is not a school that sorts children early.

It also has its own railway station. CFL’s Belval-Lycée sits on the same line as Belval-Université, one stop along, which is a rare thing for a secondary school anywhere and tells you something about how this quartier was planned.

Between the lycée, the university and the research institutes, Belval holds nearly the whole of an education in about a square mile.
