I Love Belval exists for one simple reason: so you never miss what matters here. One place for everything meaningful happening in Belval: concerts and exhibitions, university events, markets, new openings, milestones and the changes shaping the neighbourhood day by day.
And one place to find out something simpler. Whether the door is actually open.
What’s here
More than 200 places, each one checked in person: cafés, restaurants, shops, and the ones nobody writes about but everybody needs, like the pharmacy, the supermarket and the driving school. Alongside them, an agenda of what’s on, and news of what has just changed.
This is not an official channel, and that is the point. I publish what somebody who is here every day would genuinely tell a friend about, nothing more, nothing less.
Checked in person, and what that means
Every place on the site I have been to. For most, that means standing in front of it with a camera, reading the hours off the door and noting what is actually there.
Some I have been inside properly, and those carry a visited and verified badge on their page. I would rather draw that line than let you assume I have eaten everywhere.
How a place gets on the site
I add places I would send a friend to, and places people need whether or not they are charming. Nobody pays to be included, and nobody can pay to be left out. If somewhere is missing, tell me and I will go and look.
How I keep the opening hours right
This is the part most directories get wrong, so it is worth explaining.
Opening hours here are recorded as a structured week rather than a paragraph of text. That is what lets the site tell you whether somewhere is open at this exact minute, what is open on a Sunday, and what stays open on a Luxembourg public holiday.
Where a place has given me its hours, I show them. Where I have not been able to confirm something, I say so rather than filling the gap with a guess. That is why some pages carry a section headed “we have not confirmed these” instead of quietly rounding it up.
Hours change. If you find one wrong, tell me and I will fix it that week.

I Love Belval was founded and is written by me, Aswin Lutchanah. I have worked in Belval since 2015 and never quite stopped being amazed by it.
I live across the border in France, which makes me fairly typical of Belval: around 20,000 people arrive here each day, against roughly 4,300 who live here. This is a guide written by one of the people who turns up in the morning, for the people who turn up in the morning.
The site is not connected to my employer, or to any organisation described on these pages. There is no advertising, no sponsorship and no paid listings. There are also no analytics and no trackers, which is why you have not been asked to accept any cookies.
