The Möllerei is showing 42 photographs by Anne Winterer, a German photographer who documented heavy industry and the people who worked in it in the 1920s and 1930s. She opened her own studio in Düsseldorf in 1925 and photographed the Ruhr, the Lower Rhine and everyday working life, at a time when industrial photography was seen as a man’s field.
The prints come from the LVR-Industriemuseum in Oberhausen. The City of Esch adapted the exhibition with the museum and the Fonds Belval, and it places her work in its historical context. It runs until 31 December, in the building that once stored ore for the blast furnaces. The city has not published separate hours for the exhibition, so check with the Möllerei before you go, especially over Christmas.
