Vël’Ok is the south of Luxembourg’s bike sharing, and it comes with a detail that surprises most newcomers: it is free. Run by CIGL Esch-sur-Alzette, the network covers nine communes, Esch-sur-Alzette and Sanem among them, which puts Belval right in the middle of it, with more than 100 stations across the region.
You register once, online or in person at a sign-up point with a piece of ID. After that your card unlocks a bike at any dock. The bikes are electric, so the climb between Belval and Esch centre stops being an argument, and each trip can last up to two hours before the bike goes back into any dock in the network.
In Belval there are docks near the station, near Belval Plaza and at the university; the map on velok.lu shows every station in the network.
