Discovering the Universe is a beginners’ astronomy course in English at the Université Populaire in Belval. Over six Wednesday evenings it travels out to distant planets, stars and galaxies, looks at how it all came to be, and shows how to bring a small dose of astronomy into everyday life. Matias Ignacio Gárate Silva teaches it.

Classes run from 18:00 to 19:40 on 14, 21 and 28 October, then 11, 18 and 25 November, with a break for the school holidays. The six sessions cost €54 together. Pre-register on the Université Populaire’s website before the first one.

The Université Populaire is in the Terres Rouges building at 14 Porte de France, a few minutes on foot from Belval-Université station. Who’s coming stargazing?
