42 Luxembourg is a tuition-free coding school for adults in the Terres Rouges building at Belval. There are no lectures, teachers or conventional classes. Learners work through practical programming projects, review one another’s work and progress at their own pace.
No diploma or previous coding experience is required, but applicants must be at least 18. Admission begins with online logic games, followed by an information meeting and the Piscine, an intensive four-week period on campus. Successful applicants then move into a full-time programme covering programming, algorithms, software development, UNIX and network architecture. The admissions process is explained here.
The campus is open around the clock to enrolled learners, with computers, recreation areas and a FabLab. General visitors should arrange an appointment rather than arriving unannounced. The programme is delivered principally in English and French and leads to a professional certificate rather than an accredited university degree.
