Hauts Fourneaux Belval

Climb into the industrial story that shaped Belval, then look down from the furnace and see the new district built around it.

Belval’s blast furnaces are not decorative ruins placed at the edge of a new district. The university, streets and public spaces were built around them, making the old plant impossible to ignore. One furnace forms part of a visitor route that begins in the Möllerei and follows the journey once taken by ore and coke.

Interpretation explains the process as the stairs rise, and the high platform finally places the whole transformation in one view: ironwork close enough to touch, new campus beyond it. Access depends on season and weather, with an alternative lift route for part of the visit. Check before setting out, especially on a windy day. The climb rewards curiosity more than fitness.
