In 2011, Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor heard a Canadian singer whose voice was uncannily like Freddie Mercury’s. Marc Martel went on to sing some of Mercury’s parts in the film Bohemian Rhapsody, and now fronts One Vision of Queen.
One Vision of Queen, featuring Marc Martel, comes to the Rockhal Main Hall on Sunday 14 February 2027. Doors open at 19:00 and the show starts at 20:00.
The hall is seated, in three price categories: €58, €71 and €85, each including the €5 presale fee.
What is One Vision of Queen?
One Vision of Queen is a tribute show built around Marc Martel, a Canadian-born singer based in Nashville whose voice bears an uncanny likeness to Freddie Mercury’s. Since 2020 he has taken the show across Europe and North America with a full band, playing Queen’s great anthems live.
Martel had already spent years as a professional musician with his own band when Queen drummer Roger Taylor discovered him in 2011. He later sang some of Mercury’s vocal passages in Bohemian Rhapsody, the Oscar-winning film about the singer. His YouTube channel has more than 1.4 million followers, and he has been a guest on Ellen and American Idol. He keeps it simple on stage: “I think my voice is enough to remind you of Freddie,” he says.
The show
Expect the songs everyone can sing along to: “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Somebody to Love”, “We Are the Champions”, “We Will Rock You”, “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Under Pressure” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. In the quieter moments Martel sits at the piano for ballads such as “Love of My Life” and “Who Wants to Live Forever”.
The German newspaper Passauer Neue Presse called him “outstanding”, praising his near-flawless intonation and his range.
A word on Queen
Queen, the band of Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor, wrote every song in this show. Rockhal sums up why the night works: these are songs that still resonate decades later.
And the date is Valentine’s Day. Who are you taking?
