Leonidas is a Belgian chocolatier, and one of the few whose shopfront you recognise before you have read the sign. It is coming to Belval Plaza, announced by the centre on 18 September 2026 alongside Devred. Neither the building nor the floor has been named yet.
The model is the one the brand has always run on: chocolates sold loose by weight and made up into a ballotin at the counter, alongside ready-made boxes and the seasonal ranges.
The timing is the part worth noticing. A chocolate shop opening in October is opening for the gift season. Saint Nicolas falls on 6 December and Christmas follows, and those few weeks are what a chocolatier’s year is built around.
It will not be the first Leonidas in Esch. There is already a counter inside the Cactus at Lallange, on rue de Mondercange, which is where this errand has meant going until now.
