The European Heritage Days run from 16 to 18 October under the theme ‘Heritage at risk: revive, resist, reinvent’, and the Centre national de la culture industrielle (CNCI) opens Belval’s contribution with a round table on what happens to industrial sites that are left standing with no use.
The case in the room is the Gebléishal, the blowing engine hall on the Belval terrace, which sits on Europa Nostra’s 7 Most Endangered list. European and local specialists in heritage, architecture and industrial memory work through the phases such a site passes through: abandonment, rescue, conversion, reuse. A display of projects, models and research on the hall runs alongside the discussion. The organisers list the session in Luxembourgish, German, French and English.
Friday 16 October, 14:00 to 18:00, at the Luxembourg Learning Centre on Ënnert den Héichiewen, a couple of minutes from Belval-Université station. Registration goes through the organisers, and they publish no price, so ask when you book.
