Boy From Home and Laurent Unchained at Rockhal

Both bands on this Rocklab night bring punk into something else. Boy From Home mixes it with folk, moving from fragile moments to full screams, and Laurent Unchained call theirs “French Vogue Punk”, with Georges Brassens among their favourites.

Rocklab puts Boy From Home and Laurent Unchained on the Rockhal Floor on Thursday 17 December. Doors at 20:00.

Alternative folk punk on one side and what the billing calls French vogue punk on the other, which is to say chanson played with the volume up. Two acts from here, on the same night, doing fairly different things with the same energy.

A filmed Rocklab Live Session, and the last one of the year. Free of the December concert-season pricing, and a good way to see who is coming up locally.

Who are Boy From Home and Laurent Unchained?

This evening is a Rocklab Live Session, with two bands on the bill who each bring punk into their own style.

Boy From Home is the alternative folk project led by multidisciplinary artist Damien Giudice. The songs mix folk, punk and rock ‘n’ roll, moving from quiet, fragile moments to full screamed passages. Their concerts are known for singalongs, pogo dancing and stage diving.

Laurent Unchained call their sound “French Vogue Punk”: French chanson meeting punk rock. Their lyrics take on social themes, often with a good dose of humour, and the band count Tryo and Georges Brassens among their favourites.

Their records

• Boy From Home, Houseplants (2023): a debut album about our connection to nature.
• Boy From Home, Summerrain (2024): a second album about identity. A third is planned for spring 2027.
