Young people online: a course for parents at the Université Populaire

Jeunes connectés (young people online) is a course in French at the Université Populaire in Belval for parents and other adults who support young people: four Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:40, starting on 7 January.

Irritability, withdrawal, trouble sleeping, rows over the phone, cyberbullying, peer pressure: how do you recognise the signs that a young person is struggling, and how should you respond? The course works from everyday situations, with role play and scenes inspired by forum theatre, so you can try out different reactions, replay a scene and think together about other ways of talking with young people. Ideas from psychology help make sense of it all.

Sessions are on 7, 14, 21 and 28 January, and everyone takes part at their own pace, as an actor or as an observer. The four sessions cost €36. Register on the Université Populaire’s website before the first one.

The Université Populaire is in the Terres Rouges building at 14 Porte de France, a few minutes on foot from Belval-Université station. Who do you know with a teenager who never puts the phone down?
