Ice Nine Kills at Rockhal

Ice Nine Kills began as a ska punk band of Boston high school friends in 2000. Today they write albums like horror anthologies, one song per film, and call the result “theatricore”.

The American band write albums as horror anthologies, one song per film, and stage the shows to match: props, costume changes, and a set that is closer to a production than a gig. It is funny and well made.

Who are Ice Nine Kills?

Ice Nine Kills come from Boston, where high school friends Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz started the band in 2000 under the name Ice Nine. They began as a ska punk act and became Ice Nine Kills just before their first album in 2006. Charnas, the frontman, is the only founding member still on board.

Today they play horror-themed metalcore with big choruses and cinematic storytelling, a style the band calls “theatricore”. Their concerts are staged like horror films, and the Rockhal compares them to Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie. In the venue’s words, they have gone from club stages to opening for Metallica in stadiums.

• The Silver Scream (2018): thirteen songs, each inspired by a different horror film, and a number 29.
• The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood (2021): more films, from American Psycho to Pet Sematary, and their highest peak, number 18.

Milestones

• Best Live Act at the Rock Sound Awards 2023.
• “A Work of Art” (2024), from the soundtrack of the film Terrifier 3.
• “Twisting the Knife”, with actress and singer Mckenna Grace, written for Scream 7, with a 13-minute short film released in February 2026.
• In June 2026 Spencer Charnas became a playable character in the video game Dead by Daylight, with the single “Play Dead”.

This tour

The band announced this headline European tour in June 2026, a run that also takes in London’s O2 Arena. A new album has been confirmed, with title and release date still to come.
