Die Fantastischen Vier at Open Air Belval

On 7 July 1989, four young men from Stuttgart played their first gig on a stage built from pallets in a former kindergarten, having decided to rap in German. Three years later came “Die da!?”, and now Der letzte Bus is their farewell tour.

Smudo, Thomas D, Michi Beck and And.Ypsilon helped bring German-language hip-hop into the mainstream in the early 1990s, with songs like ‘Die da!?’ and ‘Sie ist weg’. After 37 years, Der letzte Bus is their last big tour before they stop touring, and Belval is one of its open-air dates.

Tickets from €79.90 for general admission standing, €99.90 for early entry and €119.90 for front of stage. The seated tribune at €129.90 is sold out. Prices include the €6 presale fee.

It is the fourth night of Open Air Belval 2027, after Fontaines D.C. on Sunday 13 June, Sting on Tuesday 15 June and Angèle on Sunday 20 June.

Who are Die Fantastischen Vier?

Die Fantastischen Vier, or Fanta 4 to their fans, come from Stuttgart. Smudo and And.Ypsilon started out as the Terminal Team, rapping in English. In 1989 Thomas D and Michi Beck joined, the four took their new name and decided to rap in German, inspired by Run DMC, the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. Their first gig, on 7 July 1989, was on a stage built from pallets in a former kindergarten in Stuttgart-Wangen.

Three years later “Die da!?!” became the first real chart hit for German-language rap, and the band never really left the charts after that. Smudo, Thomas D and Michi Beck rap, And.Ypsilon produces. In 1996 they founded their own label, Four Music.

Der letzte Bus, the farewell tour

In November 2025 Michi Beck announced “Der letzte Bus”, the last bus, as the band’s final big tour, saying it would “definitely be our last big tour”. The idea is to visit, as far as possible, every place they have played before. The arena leg runs from December 2026 in Riesa to February 2027 in Vienna, and the first dates sold out so fast that more were added, including this open-air night in Belval. Rockhal promises a show that brings together the biggest moments of their career.
