Philippe Caverivière at Rockhal

Before comedy, Philippe Caverivière ran land sports at a Club Med, where he met Nicolas Canteloup, and opened a sandwich shop in Fréjus that closed after two months. Since 2019, RTL listeners have started their day with his column.

Philippe Caverivière plays the Rockhal Main Hall on Friday 19 November 2027. Doors at 19:00.

Caverivière made his name writing and delivering short comic pieces on French television, a format that leaves nowhere to hide, and has taken the same approach to the stage. The material moves between the very funny and the uncomfortable, usually inside the same routine.

The show is in French, Main Hall. The seating plan is not stated on the listing.

Who is Philippe Caverivière?

Since 2019, RTL listeners have started their day with his column. Philippe Caverivière was born in 1971 in Beauvais and grew up between Montbéliard and Saint-Raphaël. His road to comedy took a few detours: in 1993 he spent four months running land sports at a Club Med in the Drôme, where he met Nicolas Canteloup, and he later opened a sandwich shop in Fréjus that closed after two months.

From 2002 he wrote for Canteloup, first on Rire et Chansons, then on Europe 1 from 2005 until June 2020. He also co-wrote the film Les Infidèles with Nicolas Bedos, Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche, the 2012 show Nicolas Canteloup n’arrête jamais at the Folies Bergère, and Florent Peyre’s show Nature.

The show: Tu crois que c’est une bonne idée ?

After years of writing for others and sharp columns on air, here he is alone on stage. Tu crois que c’est une bonne idée ? mixes laughter and emotion around one idea: painful subjects can be funny. He describes it as « superficiel par profondeur », superficial out of depth, and turns absence into material for laughs.

The thought he leaves the audience with is a kind one: humour can be one of the best ways to heal. Ahead of Belval, the show plays the Théâtre des Nouveautés in Paris from 28 January to 13 March 2027.
