Sports Direct took roughly 1,200 square metres at Belval Plaza in the early summer of 2026, which makes it comfortably the largest sports retailer in the neighbourhood. It carries more than fifty brands, with Nike, Adidas, Puma, Asics and Under Armour doing most of the heavy lifting, and it runs the permanent discount-warehouse format the chain is known for: stacked racks, yellow price roundels and very little pretence.
Sharing the same floor and the same tills is USC, the group’s fashion side, where the labels turn towards Lacoste, HUGO, Tommy Jeans, Calvin Klein, Boss and Levi’s. If you walked in expecting only football boots, the front half of the shop will surprise you.
It is here because the centre went looking. Belval Plaza surveyed its shoppers, found sporting goods was the most-requested gap, and its director brought the chain in. Sports Direct belongs to the British Frasers Group, which is also why the shop reads more like a British high street than a Luxembourgish one.
For anyone on a student budget who needs running shoes, gym kit or a replacement pair of trainers without a trip to the capital, this is now the obvious first stop in Belval.
