Hunger Games fan event at Kinepolis Belval

In the first four films Haymitch Abernathy is the mentor with a drink in his hand and nothing left to lose. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping goes back 24 years to show how he got there. On Wednesday 18 November, the day it opens in Luxembourg, Kinepolis Belval screens it with a fan evening: a quiz first, then the film in Screen 2, its Laser Ultra room.

What is Sunrise on the Reaping about?

It is the morning of the 50th Hunger Games, a Quarter Quell, when twice the usual number of tributes are reaped. Haymitch is sixteen, born on reaping day, and one of District 12’s. Joseph Zada plays him, the part Woody Harrelson played as the older Haymitch.

Francis Lawrence directs again, from Suzanne Collins’s 2025 novel, with Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons and Glenn Close among the cast. It is the sixth Hunger Games film. It premiered in London on 28 October and reaches cinemas in the United States on 20 November, two days after Belval.
