Belval fills up again on Tuesday

Courses at the University of Luxembourg start on Tuesday 15 September. What that changes in Belval, and the shape of the term through to January.

Term starts at the University of Luxembourg in Belval on 15 September 2026

Courses at the University of Luxembourg start on Tuesday 15 September, and Belval changes overnight.

You feel it before you see it. In August you can get a table anywhere at one o’clock and a parking space at ten. From Tuesday the platform at Belval-Université empties into the campus in waves, the lunch queues come back, and the Luxembourg Learning Centre stops being the quietest building in the neighbourhood. This is the week Belval stops being a business park with a concert hall attached and goes back to being a campus.

The shape of the term

Teaching starts on Tuesday 15 September. The winter holidays run from 19 December to 3 January, so the last day before the break is Friday 18 December and the campus picks up again on Monday 4 January. That is fourteen weeks, minus a fortnight of near silence over Christmas when Belval briefly belongs to the people who live here.

If you have just arrived

Welcome. Two things worth bookmarking. The agenda lists what is actually on here, week by week, and there is a lot on between now and Christmas. Open now tells you what is serving at the minute you look, which matters more than you would think at half past two on a Sunday.

Everything on this site is within walking distance of the station. That is the whole idea of it.

If you have just moved here for the semester, what would you like to see written up? I take requests.
