Lunch at the Nonbe counter, on the RestoDays menu
Three courses at the Nonbe counter for 41 €: mackerel, teriyaki chicken and a yuzu dessert. RestoDays at Nonbe runs until Saturday 24 October.
Today I had lunch at Nonbe, at the counter.
It’s a long wooden counter, the kind you can rest your elbows on. Wine glasses stand in a line along it, waiting for the evening. Small potted plants sit in a metal tray by the bar, and behind them red bowls are stacked high, ready for whoever comes next.
If you asked me where to eat best in Belval, I would send you here. I’ve been before, and today was as good as it always is. The difference was the menu: it’s RestoDays, the fortnight when restaurants across Luxembourg put a fixed price on three courses, and at Nonbe lunch is 41 €.
In short: RestoDays at Nonbe is three courses for 41 € at lunch or 48 € at dinner, until Saturday 24 October 2026. Booking through RestoDays takes a 15 € prepayment, which comes off the bill.

First, the mackerel
It arrived in a glazed bowl with green brushstrokes around the rim. Three slices of mackerel, laid over each other so the silver skin caught the light, a few small leaves on top, wasabi to one side and soy in a dish of its own.
It’s the kind of plate you look at for a moment before you pick up your chopsticks.

Then the tray
The main course came on a wooden tray, and it took up most of my stretch of counter. Teriyaki chicken, glazed and sliced, under spring onion and sesame. A small hill of finely shredded cabbage with a single cherry tomato on top. White rice in a blue bowl. Miso soup in a wooden one, with fried tofu floating in it. And a little bowl of sauce on the side.
Everything was exactly as it should be. By the time the bowls were empty I was more than full, and there was still dessert to come.

And the dessert that changed
The menu promises a yuzu cheesecake. On my day the kitchen sent something else: a soft rolled sponge cake under a yuzu cream, with a slice of orange, a slice of apple and a strawberry beside it.
I’m telling you so you’re not surprised if it happens to you too. I didn’t mind in the slightest.

After Saturday
The RestoDays menu ends on Saturday, but the counter stays, and so does the kitchen that made my lunch today. I’ll be back.
